PSG stream 'pirate' broadcast on Facebook page of Man Utd win and could now be in hot water

The French giants put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals following a ruthless 2-0 win at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

To their own surprise, over one million PSG supporters were able to tune into the contest when the club streamed the game on their own Facebook page.

It has caused a huge stir because French channel RMC hold exclusive broadcasting rights for Champions League and Europa League fixtures.

PSG then pushed their own stream after RMC's footage appeared to struggle with technical difficulties.

French Eurosport journalist Philippe Da Costa tweeted: "What? The game is broadcast on the PSG Facebook page???"

Authorities have been busy cracking down on illegal streams across the web to stop people watching matches without paying.

In 2017 the Premier League announced its "biggest ever crackdown" in which server IP addresses worldwide were blocked.

The popular Reddit Soccer Streams was the latest website to be shut down just last month.

Over 425,000 subscribers used the site to watch Premier League and European fixtures.
