Premier League rivals eye £35m move for Aaron Ramsey

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a £35million move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates and is yet to negotiate fresh terms with the north London club.

And Arsenal’s capital rivals are ready to test the water with a big bid before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to the Daily Express .

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is also keen on signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha as he looks to bolster his squad before the start of the new Premier League season.

With Tottenham pulling out of the race for the £75m-rated forward, Chelsea are clear to sign the former Manchester United player, if they can stump up Palace’s asking price.

Arsenal 2-0 Lazio: Reiss Nelson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on target – 5 talking points

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck as Arsenal rounded off pre-season with victory ahead of next week’s Premier League opener vs champions Manchester City.

Unai Emery experimented with a fluid 4-4-2 from the start and a lively display appeared to justify the decision with Reiss Nelson and Alex Iwobi working well behind Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette.

Nelson put the Gunners in front from close range after pouncing on a rebound from Iwobi’s angled shot that beat Silvio Proto and came back off the right post.

And an impressive Gunners display saw Aubameyang, on as a half-time substitute, double their lead. He coolly took a touch inside the box before stroking home into the bottom right corner after good work from Mohamed Elneny and Lacazette.

Emery will be sweating on the fitness of Aaron Ramsey ahead of next week, but he has quickly sprinkled plenty of optimism around the club ahead of a new era at the Emirates.

Alex Iwobi breaks silence on partying incident as he reveals what he must do at Arsenal this season

Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has finally broken his silence on his controversial partying incident, admitting he must "knuckle down" if he’s to succeed under new boss Unai Emery.

The 22-year-old hit the headlines earlier this year after he was filmed at a party a day before the Gunners’ humiliating 4-2 defeat to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Some people at the bash, held at a house in Soho, London, were allegedly smoking cannabis and inhaling laughing gas, sometimes called ‘hippy crack’.

While there was never any suggestion that Iwobi had done anything illegal, his then-manager Arsene Wenger said it was "unacceptable" to go out so close to a game.

This week, Iwobi – who played for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia – signed a new five-year contract with the Gunners worth around £70,000-a-week.
