What do you do when you think the umpire is garbage? Well…
In the seventh inning of a tie game between the Chicago Dogs and the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball on Monday night, outfielder Brennan Metzger had a meltdown following a third-strike call from umpire Mike Jarboe that he clearly didn’t agree with.
Jarboe warned Metzger to take his hysteria elsewhere and eventually ejected him from the game, so the 28-year-old stormed into the dugout and carried a trash bin all the way to home plate, where Jarboe was set to stand.
As Metzger passed Jarboe back into the dugout, he told him, “Go to your home.”
RedHawks manager Michael Schlacht had to hold Metzger back as he spat vulgarities toward the umpire. Play-by-play announcers referred to Metzger as a “passionate, passionate ballplayer.”
In 2012, Metzger was a 22nd-round pick by the Giants and had stints as high as High-A with the organization until 2015. He’s batting .311 with eight home runs in 69 games this season for the RedHawks.
