Paul Pogba set for Manchester United exit amid Jose Mourinho row as Barcelona eye January swoop

Mourinho said: “I made the decision for Paul not to be the second captain any more.
“It was exactly the same person who decided Paul was the second captain. No fall-out at all, just decisions I do not have to explain.”
SunSport revealed yesterday how Mourinho tore a strip off Pogba for his carelessness that led to Wolves’ goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
He then fumed after United’s £89million record signing — rested for last night’s Carabao Cup flop against Derby — criticised his tactics.

Now Mourinho has told him he can never again have the armband, which he wears in the absence of Antonio Valencia.
Pogba, who has skippered United three times this season, sat in the Old Trafford stands last night.
He was not present when Mourinho delivered the news of his decision to the squad who were involved against the Rams.
The manager made it clear that no individual was bigger than United.
It was a show of Mourinho’s authority to the rest of the players, who will have read Pogba’s comments following Saturday’s draw.

Pogba had said: “When we are at home we should attack, attack, attack. That’s Old Trafford. We are here to attack.
“I think teams are scared when they see Man United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake today.”
When the France star was then asked what is stopping the team from attacking more, he replied: “I can’t tell you because I’m a player. It’s not me.”
And without naming Pogba, Mourinho questioned some United players’ attitude in his programme notes for last night’s game, claiming some were giving only “95 per cent”.

He also said he demands commitment because: “If you don’t match the opposition’s motivation then you’re in trouble.”
Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has been plotting for his star man to move to La Liga since the summer.
Raiola is understood to have promised Pogba a move to Barcelona at the end of this season after a three-year stint back at Old Trafford.
And several Barca stars have already let him know he would be welcomed at the Nou Camp.
Defender Gerard Pique said Barca would be “happy to have” Pogba because they want “the best players.”
