Nurmagomedov willing to box Mayweather — and knock him out

Khabib Nurmagomedov has fired back at Floyd Mayweather by insisting he will take him on in the boxing ring and knock him out.

Former five-weight king Mayweather, 41, told Russia’s undisputed UFC lightweight champion he would never fight him at his own MMA game in the octagon.

But Nurmagomedov’s team says the banned 30-year-old is ready to switch to boxing — and reverse unbeaten Mayweather’s victory over Ireland’s UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz even suggested Mayweather would end up disabled if he took on Nurmagomedov at mixed martial arts.

Abdelaziz told TMZ Sports: “He’ll have to have enough money for life insurance because he’s not going to be walking anymore.

“He’s going to be drinking water [through a] straw.”

Abdelaziz explained Nurmagomedov is ready to talk to UFC president Dana White to enable him to take on Mayeather in the boxing ring.

Nurmagomedov and McGregor were suspended indefinitely after ugly scenes following Nurmagomedov’s victory over the Irishman at UFC 229 in October.

But Abdelaziz said: “Definitely, Khabib wants to box Floyd, but I say we do have a contract with the UFC, they allowed this Irish guy [Conor McGregor] to fight.

“If Khabib really wants it, we’ll sit down with Dana [White] we can make it happen.

“We’ll give him a shot, there’s not enough boxers out there to call him out. You call the UFC guys because you know the UFC guys bring the numbers.

“But [Floyd thinks] it’s easy money, but trust me, Khabib will knock him out. He’s too big, he’s too strong.

“He can’t make him quit like he made Conor quit. Everybody know Conor quit but he can’t make Khabib quit.”

Mayweather had earlier told the same sports website he would only meet the 30-year-old on his terms — in a boxing ring.

He said: “They came to me talking about the Khabib fight. Khabib called me out. I didn’t call Khabib out.

“They said it has to happen in the octagon, and I said, ‘You just tell me where Khabib has made nine figures before in the octagon.’

“If he hasn’t made nine figures, he’s not the A side. I’m the A side, so if you guys want the fight to happen, you must come my way. My way, my rules.”

Mayweather took his perfect record to 50-0 when he beat McGregor in August 2017 with a TKO in the 10th round.
