Norwich fans left fuming after ref awards controversial pen against Palace – The Sun

NORWICH fans were left fuming after falling behind to a hugely contentious Crystal Palace penalty.

Ibrahim Amadou was left in disbelief after referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot following a challenge on James McArthur.

Luka Milivojevic made no mistake and hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

But replays of the incident showed that Moss may have been duped by midfielder McArthur.

Amadou slid in the area in an attempt to win the ball and McArthur was wise to see it coming before appearing to flop over his legs.

The decision did not go to VAR and Norwich fans were quick to vent their frustrations on social media.

One said: "How on earth is that a penalty? VAR failing yet again."

Another added: "Joke of a penalty. That's about as soft as you're going to get."

Even a Crystal Palace supporter admitted it was "super questionable."

A fourth said: "Time and time again, English VAR is totally useless apart from on offsides. A joke of a decision. Fell over himself before the contact."

To make matters worse for the visitors, their injury crisis deepened with keeper Ralf Fahrmann coming off injured to be replaced by 35-year-old Michael McGovern.

McGovern, making his Premier League debut, is the club's third choice stopper following Tim Krul's injury.
