Nicklas Bendtner arrives at Copenhagen court charged with violence over alleged attack that left taxi driver with broken jaw

The Denmark star, who was arrested in September after being reported to police by the driver, arrived with lawyer Anders Nemeth for his trial.

According to Danish broadcaster TV2 the on going court case was shown a camera inside the cab showing Bendter hit the taxi driver on the evening of September 9 in front of Denmark's National Bank in Copenhagen.

Last month Bendtner, now playing in Norway for Rosenborg, issued a grovelling apology in the wake of the dramatic episode.

His lawyer Anders Nacmeth previously said the 30-year-old denies the charges.

While the taxi driver himself has been charged with throwing an unknown object towards Bendtner and his girlfriend without hitting them.

Reflecting on the incident Bendtner said: “I was involved in an extremely unfortunate episode.

"I could not imagine it would develop as it did, and of course I'm extremely sad that the outcome became as unfortunate as it did.

"To Rosenborg fans and audiences, I regret that this has happened. I'm sorry with all my heart that we are standing here today."
