Nice guy Claudio Ranieri turns up at training 24 hours after sacking to wish Fulham luck in relegation battle

Ranieri was dumped yesterday after just 106 days in charge with the club ten points adrift of safety in the Premier League.

SunSport exclusively revealed the Italian was getting axed with bosses handing control to Scott Parker for the final three months of the campaign.

But the 67-year-old did not want to leave the West London club without saying one final farewell to the players and staff.

Ranieri made the journey to the Motspur Park training ground while Parker was taking his first session since being named caretaker.

He smiled at onlookers and then went in to wish all his former squad luck in their unlikely battle to avoid relegation.

In sacking the former Leicester and Chelsea boss, Fulham owner Shahid Khan effectively wrote off the side's chances of staying in the top flight.

Instead he called on Parker to at least restore some identity to a club that has floundered since securing promotion through the play-offs last season.

The reality is that barring a huge turnaround in performance levels, the London club face dropping back down into the Championship well before the season is over.

Parker's first match in charge is the local derby against Chelsea, before a trip to Leicester next week.

Then the next two fixtures are against both the title chasers, Liverpool and Manchester City, so the expectation is Fulham could be even further adrift by the end of March.

Ranieri failed to get across his methods to his players, which is one of the reasons he paid the price with his job.

But the Fulham fans have also pointed the finger at club bosses for their poor transfer dealings over the course of the last year.
