New Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refuses to deny he is LIVERPOOL fan

The Red Devils' legend has taken over at Old Trafford following Jose Mourinho's sacking on Tuesday.

Solskjaer spent 11 years at the Theatre of Dreams and scored 123 goals for United after Sir Alex Ferguson signed him from Molde in 1996.

He was loved by the Red Devils supporters for his killer instinct and, most importantly, the fabled last-minute goal against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final.

The Norwegian has now been chosen to turn things around at United following Mourinho's departure after the humiliating 3-1 defeat to arch-enemies Liverpool on Sunday.

But when quizzed about rumours claiming that he in fact grew up as the Reds’ fan, Solskjaer’s answer was very vague.

He told FourFourTwo in 2016: "You learn as long as you live, that’s the only answer I can give you…

"I never confirm that one! I’m a Manchester United fan through and through. I bleed red."

Solskjaer also revealed the Reds had been interested in his services when playing for Molde.

Liverpool, however, had not made any offer for the striker and the Norwegian eventually moved to Old Trafford where he retired in 2007.

Solskjaer will debut as the Red Devils’ coach on Saturday in a clash with Cardiff – the club he managed with poor results in 2014.

After he was unveiled on Wednesday morning, he told the club's website: “Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role."
