Mohamed Salah reveals he would play only as Liverpool on Fifa 2005… and which four players he always picked

The speedster, 26, has revealed he used to always pick Rafa Bentiez's Champions League-winning Reds when playing Fifa 2005.

His unusual tactics saw Steven Gerrard play up front, with Jerzy Dudek, Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia aiming to keep things quiet at the other end.

In real life, Salah watched the quartet help bring the Champions League to Anfield and told France Football: “It was special to me even though I was very young.

"When I played Fifa, I always chose Liverpool in 2005.

"I always used to put Steven Gerrard up front because he had a massive shot!

"Then I had Jerzy Dudek in goal and of course Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia in defence.

"But I also played with Liverpool before 2005 on my console.”

Salah admits he always wanted to play in the Premier League and even a rocky spell at Chelsea, where he played just 13 league games in two seasons, could not deter him.

He added: “From January to June 2014, I played ten matches. After that, nothing. I respected the manager’s decision, it was his choice.

"But, from time to time, it became difficult for me to accept, because it was not healthy. I had to leave. I like football, it's my passion. So, I had to play football.

“I had a good relationship with him [Mourinho], but it was time for me to leave. I went to Fiorentina on loan and was able to play again.

“I dreamed of playing in the Premier League since I was a kid. I was obsessed with the idea of going back to England from the day I left Chelsea.

"I love the Premier League, I love the style of football here. In my head, that was very clear.”

The full Mohamed Salah interview will appear in a special Champions League edition of France Football which is released tomorrow
