Mo Salah leads team-mates as Liverpool stars party at Chinawhite to celebrate topping the league at Christmas

Salah went from scoring the goal that beat Wolves on Friday to ensure Liverpool top the Premier League at Christmas, to beginning the festive feels at the team party last night.

Jurgen Klopp's stars began the night at Peter Street Kitchen in Manchester before heading over to the popular Chinawhite nightclub.

Centre-back Joe Gomez was seen on crutches as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

James Milner told Liverpoolfc.com: "It’s a tough time of year and a lot always seems to change around this time of year in the Premier League.

"So it’s important we keep the hammer down and keep pushing and keep trying to get those results.

"Mentally, sometimes when things are going well you just want to keep playing games and getting the results.

"But obviously it’s a hectic schedule (and) you’re going to have injuries, you’re going to have suspensions."

But the Reds deserved to celebrate after Friday's win at Wolves was followed by Manchester City losing ground with a defeat against Crystal Palace.

That result means Klopp's team have a four-point lead heading into Christmas ahead of their clash with Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Yet one statistic will worry the superstitious supporters around Anfield.

In the last 10 years, only two teams have failed to win the Premier League title having been top of the table on Christmas Day.

On both occasions it was Liverpool, in 2008-09 and 2013-14.

After Saturday night's party, Klopp will want his players to have a restful Christmas as they prepare to face Arsenal and Manchester City either side of the new year.
