Michael Owen slaughtered by Man Utd fans after failing to celebrate Rashford penalty with Ferdinand, Hargreaves and Lineker

Rashford's injury-time penalty saw the Red Devils miraculously overcome a first leg deficit to beat Paris Saint-Germain and advance to the Champions League quarter finals.

But a video filming the BT Sport studios where Owen was working as a pundit showed the former England man stay still while fellow analysts understandably celebrated wildly.

Presenter Gary Lineker punched the air, Rio Ferdinand roared with delight and Owen Hargreaves applauded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Yet, Owen stayed sat down, arms folded.

And United fans reacted with fury towards the man who spent three seasons at Old Trafford, winning a Premier League title and League Cup.

One supporter wrote: "They should make him return his Premier League medal."

Another said: "Owen is so ungrateful, we give the man a Premier League title, stand up man."

User Jonny Briggs responded: "Pretty certain all fans are unanimous in the opinion that he's a wrong'un."

Marcus Rose wrote: "Young English striker scores and @themichaelowen doesn't flinch, tells ya everything about the man."

Owen has already had issues with fans of his former club after they reacted angrily to him saying Liverpool should have targeted Rashford's injured ankle a fortnight ago.

The teenage striker was limping around during the game at Old Trafford and Owen urged them to "go and kick Rashford".

After supporters slated him on social media, Owen responded by saying: "Hadn’t realised there were so many angels here on Twitter. For everyone in uproar over my comments yesterday, get real.

"As an ex-player I am employed to give my views and insights into what happens at football clubs all over the land."
