Mesut Ozil’s ‘filthy’ bounce chip in Arsenal’s win against Bournemouth wins goal of the month

Cherries keeper Artur Boruc was bamboozled as the German playmaker smashed the ball into the ground and over him during February's 5-1 win.

Video replays show Ozil deliberately sidefoot the ball into the floor to cause an unusual bounce.

It has become a trademark finish of the midfielder's and fans were left in awe after watching it fly into the back of the net.

One Twitter account wrote: "Another filthy bounce technique finish from Ozil ????"

Another said: "Still can't understand that Ozil finish."

While one added: "that ozil finish has me HOT, jheeez"

Ozil, 30, took just four minutes to score against Bournemouth before Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Laurent Koscielny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette completed the rout.

Unai Emery has regularly snubbed the £350,000-a-week star this season and his future at the Emirates appears to be in doubt.

He has scored four goals and set up two more in 18 games in all competitions this term.

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon reckons Ozil is playing in the comfort zone and lacks hunger and drive after being handed his huge pay rise last January.

He said: "Signing him up on a big deal was seen as a must not to lose him.

“But the character of the player has to be taken into consideration.

"When you give somebody that amount of money it probably wouldn’t affect some players. But it looks as if it has softened him.

“He doesn’t look driven, he doesn’t look hungry, and when that happens you have a problem.

“You need Ozil firing as well as the ability of the team to carry him at times when he is not quite functioning.

“There is no doubt that the team needs a player like Ozil playing at his best.

“Even an Ozil not quite at his best because the creativity that seems to be lacking from that midfield area, from the No10 area, stands out a mile.”
