Marcelo Bielsa confirms he will be staying at Leeds this season in massive boost amid fears over new contract

MARCELO BIELSA confirmed that he will stay as Leeds manager next season.

The Argentine was yet to commit to a new deal after securing Leeds’ promotion back to the Premier League after a 16-year exile.

But worried Whites fans can breathe a sigh of relief after Bielsa committed – to the tune of some £8million – for the upcoming season.

He said: “I will be working next season at Leeds United. Everything has been sorted and it is definite I will be here next season.”

On why it took until now to sort, he added: “Like in every negotiation, nothing is done until it is done.

“There was nothing of importance. I have been working 100 per cent since the celebrations were finished.”

‘El Loco’ took Leeds back to the Prem at the second time of asking after suffering play-off heartache in his first campaign.

But after winning the Championship, life could not be tougher as they travel to Liverpool in their opener on Saturday.

And Bielsa admitted his lack of music knowledge means he does not know what Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s ‘heavy metal’ style of football entails.

He added: “I haven’t got much culture in football, so I wouldn’t know.

“Without a doubt they are one of the best teams in the world. But Anfield is only Anfield if it is full.

“All the work that Klopp has done everywhere he has worked has given him the opportunity to shine in every league he has been in.

“Anything I say would just be repeating all the praise he has already received.”

Bielsa could have some new players to work with ahead of the big game.

Leeds are reportedly set to snap up Feyenoord 18-year-old winger Crysencio Summerville in a £1.3million deal.

They have also been linked with a shock transfer for German icon Julian Draxler which could see Bielsa line up with a drastic new look XI.

And elsewhere, ex-Leeds manager Howard Wilkinson exclusively told SunSport Bielsa can take the Whites back to the top by doing it his way like Frank Sinatra.
