Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils set to announce signing of Lukasz Bejger after beating Man City to Polish teenager

SunSport reported in March how the Red Devils had beaten their fierce rivals Manchester City in the hunt for the versatile defender.

And according to the Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho's side are set to officially announce the purchase of the 16-year-old.

It is understood that Bejger has finally received international clearance, and he is now poised to link up with the United academy.

While they also add that the player has already posed for club photographs ahead of his switch from Poznan.

Bejger impressed during a trial with United in August last year, with his versatility at the back catching the eye of coaches.

He came to the attention of United following the appointment of former Lech Poznan scout Piotr Sadowski.

Primarily a centre-back, Bejger can also play as a right-back, while he is also more than capable of being deployed as a holding midfielder.

Since making his Poland U-16 debut against Scotland last year, Bejger has captained the Poland side – where he has been a regular starter.

And should he eventually break into the first team at Old Trafford, he would become the first Polish citizen to represent the FA Cup runners-up.
