Manchester United legend Paul Scholes blasted by fans after he criticises boss Jose Mourinho for 'classless' celebrations… but did pundit have a point?

The Old Trafford legend has been viciously branded a "b*****d", "disgraceful" and "absolute turnip of a pundit" after criticising Mourinho's "classless" celebrations in Turin.

Juan Mata's free-kick and Leonardo Bonucci's own-goal secured a dramatic 2-1 Champions League fightback for United.

Mourinho, 55, taunted the Juve crowd so much that a furious Bonucci confronted him on the pitch and the Special One had to be escorted off.

BT Sport pundit Scholes, 43, blasted: "This is everywhere he goes. You need to win with a bit of class.

"Shake the managers hand, go over and clap your fans. I don't think there's any need for it but that's the way he is."

But many United fans have taken the manager's side and slammed Scholes for his "negativity".

Jordan Clarke tweeted: "P*** off Scholes. Not sure it it's just me but if Mourinho's going to stick around, that's the Mourinho I want to see.

"The b******. Scholes constantly has to pick a negative whenever there's a positive."

Paul Thorpe wrote: "Paul Scholes Absolute world class player Absolute turnip of a pundit"

Twitter user Babanla said: "Must be a tough past few weeks for Scholes.

"After he gave that his disgraceful & shameful interview denigrating Mourinho & insulting our players to give the media content during the international break, the team hasn't lost a game & have firmly fought for the badge. Shame on him."

Enyi Nnanta said: "Man Utd Lose: Scholes criticizes Man Utd Win: scholes criticizes What does this guy really want?!"

Mourinho brought on Mata and Marouane Fellaini in the 79th minute and both were instrumental in winning the game.

Mata scored a sublime 86th-minute free-kick while Fellaini flicked on a cross for Bonucci's last-minute own-goal.

Twitter user Kaizer said: "Scholes needs to pipe down for real man. Horrible pundit. Why tf does he have to speak to negatively al the time?

"He called Mou classless for what did after the whistle. Why not actually speak about Mou's tactical substitutions which completely changed the game?"

But others claimed Jose was out of order and backed Scholes.

They included TalkSport pundit Jim White, who said: "Scholes is right about class – at times like this, Jose doesn't have it."

Mourinho, who won Serie A with Inter Milan in 2009 and 2010, was goaded by Juventus fans throughout the match.

But he conceded he should not have let them get to him.

Mourinho said: "I didn’t offend anyone at the end.

"I just made a gesture that I wanted to hear them louder.

"I probably shouldn’t have done it, and with a cool head I wouldn’t have done it, but with my family insulted, including my Inter family, I reacted like this."

Scholes and Mourinho have been at loggerheads during the Portuguese's spell in charge of United.

In January, Scholes claimed Mourinho and his players were "under-performing" after their 0-0 draw with Southampton.

The Red Devils boss hit back, saying "all he does is criticise" and he hopes he would be "25 per cent" as successful as him if he ever turns to management.

Scholes accused Mourinho of "embarrassing" United and claimed to be "surprised" he was not sacked after a 3-1 defeat to West Ham in September.
