Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and his fellow Premier League bosses MUST take pundits' criticism on the chin

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho last week accused high-profile ex-players on TV of peddling “compulsive lies”.


And Liverpool chief Jurgen Klopp slammed Sky Sports’ Gary Neville for suggesting his side should abandon the Champions League to concentrate on the Prem title.

BT Sport pundit Ferdinand said: “I understand why they’re doing it. They’re protecting their players and creating a siege mentality.

“It’s mind games so I get that.

“But they have to understand pundits — whether they like it or not — are a part of football. They are not going anywhere.


“A manager may take things personally and sometimes over-react.

“It’s like someone talking about your family.

“Criticism doesn’t come from a bad place, it comes from a place of ‘I love football’ and I’m going to talk about football in the most respectable, honest way I can.

“If that gets someone’s back up, that’s part of the game.”
