Man Utd star Paul Pogba allows Jesse Lingard to take penalty, showing his new attitude

The World Cup winner was restored to the starting XI for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff by new interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And the Norwegian’s Red Devils reign got off to a flyer with a 5-1 win in Wales.

Pogba was at the centre of everything for his side, bagging three assists in the process.

And when Jesse Lingard won a penalty for United in the second half, everyone expected Pogba to step forward and take it.

The Frenchman courted controversy earlier in the season with his bizarre run-up before eventually being dropped from the team by Jose Mourinho.

But after being given a clean slate by Solskjaer, Pogba decided to take a step back and instead allowed Lingard to take the spot-kick.

The decision to hand over penalty duties worked a treat too, with Lingard firing home with no problems.

It now remains to be seen if Pogba will put himself forward the next time United are awarded a penalty.

But his selfless behaviour indicates Pogba is already enjoying life under the new regime, with United already closing the gap on fourth-place Chelsea after their shock defeat to Leicester at Stamford Bridge.
