Weghorst desperate for trophies too…

Bet not many – perhaps even Weghorst – thought he’d be at United starting in a major cup final after scoring two goals in 20 games for (eventually relegated) Burnley last season.

Will he be an unlikely hero?

Erik ten Hag has NEVER visited Wembley before

Can he win on his first trip? Kick off is about 40 minutes away…

TEAM NEWS REACTION: Newcastle

While for Newcastle, the absence of Nick Pope through suspension sees a chance handed to third-choice goalkeeper Loris Karius, with Mark Gillespie on the bench.

Bruno Guimaraes comes into midfield after a three-game absence for a red card, while Allan Saint-Maximin plays on the left and Callum Wilson is up top.

Joe Willock and Alexander Isak are on the bench.

TEAM NEWS REACTION: Man United

So Diogo Dalot plays ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right back, Casemiro and Fred continue their midfield partnership and Wout Weghorst plays in attack ahead of Jadon Sancho.

But the MASSIVE news is that Marcus Rashford, an injury worry before the final, IS fit to start.

Huge boost for Erik ten Hag, that.

More Cup finals to come?

Eddie Howe wants Newcastle players to get used to these kind of days. Probably will happen, too, given they’re the richest club in the entire world thanks to the giant sovereign wealth fund of a human rights-abusing regime.

What a heartwarming underdog story.

Goal in the Premier League game…

It was 1-0 to Tottenham against London rivals Chelsea. There’s been a goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium… but for WHO?

Find out below…

United aiming to exploit Karius?

Let’s hear from Sportsmail columnist Danny Murphy on that very subject…

Newcastle embracing ‘annoying’ tag

That below picture is the United lads on their way down on the train from Stockport.

We always see supporters with tin foil FA Cups, but I’m a big fan of this replica League Cup from these Magpies supporters. Top work.

And I am pleased to report everyone’s favourite three-handled trophy is already on it’s pitchside plinth at Wembley.

A glimpse of the matchday programme outside the ground – good to see you can still get a physical souvenir from the day, although the prices have probably gone up a little since Newcastle’s last appearance 23 years ago.

What with rapid inflationary growth and all that.

No-one deserves it more!

Redemption arc for Karius?

Who will seize the opportunity?

They’ve ended their Wembley hiatus. Will their trophy drought end too?

We’ll find out in less than three hours…

Lovely tribute to Motty

Love to see this. Rest in peace, Motty.

Howe urged to speak out on human rights

The letter sent to Magpies boss Howe claims there have been 157 executions in Saudi Arabia since the kingdom’s Public Investment Fund bought Newcastle in October 2021.

‘There will be no glory in victory on Sunday if people who should know better don’t speak up for Ahmed Al-Raeba and his brother Hassan and the many victims of the bloody Saudi dictatorship,’ said John Hird, of Newcastle United Fans Against Sportswashing.

Wonder if Howe will respond? Hope he does. Wouldn’t hold my breath.

Of course, there’s a Premier League game today too…

That’s Tottenham vs Chelsea, and it’s just kicked off.

But Newcastle fans aren’t the only ones arriving in numbers!

Classy touch from the Red Devils.

Perhaps uncharacteristic, one might say.

Can Ten Hag emulate Fergie?

He didn’t have a bad trophy haul, did he, Sir Alex Ferguson?
