Man City youngsters thrash Man Utd after tribute to Class of 92 coach Eric Harrison

Both teams came together before the game to pay tribute to Eric Harrison, the former United coach, who died on Thursday.

Harrison worked with the famous Class of '92 crop of United youngsters including David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville.

Neville is now a Sky Sports pundit and paid an emotional tribute to Harrison when the news broke.

He said: "Eric we owe you everything, we’ve lost our mentor, our coach and the man who made us.

"He taught us how to play, to never give up and how important it was to win your individual battles."

Once the pre-match tributes had been observed, there was no time for sympathy as City marched on to the final.

A Felix Nmecha brace sandwiched a Fisayo Dele-Bashiru strike to keep City in the running for a trophy.

The deadlock was broken after a lively start when a Nmecha screamer from 30 yards beat James Thompson to give City a slender half-time lead.

After half-time, Dele-Bashiru doubled his side's lead on the hour-mark curling one in off the post.

Despite a spirited United performance in the second-half, Nmecha sealed City's route to the final on 81 minutes firing in from inside the box.

City face either Derby County or Middlesbrough in the final.
