Liverpool vs Spurs Champions League final would rock England’s Nations League dream… but hurt Holland too

AN all English Champions League final could seriously hamper England's chances of Nations League glory.

Liverpool and Tottenham still need to edge past Barcelona and Ajax respectively if they are to do battle on the grandest stage of them all.

Supporters would have already circled June 1 in their diaries as the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid awaits.

But it could come as bad news for England boss Gareth Southgate.

That is because the Nations League semi-final against Holland takes places just five days after.

There is also little rest before the final and the match for third place which takes place on June 9.

Both Liverpool and Spurs have a host of English players integral to Southgate's plans.

The most notable ones include Jordan Henderson, Danny Rose, Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Kieran Trippier.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adan Lallana are unlikely to be picked by Southgate after a lack of first-team football for the Reds.

In England's most recent victory over Montenegro last month Alli, Henderson, Rose and Kane all featured.

And they will surely require a lengthy break after a gruelling campaign if they do progress into the Champions League final.

Holland will also be slightly hampered.

Dutch duo Virgil Van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum will most likely miss the clash with England.
