That came following intelligence from bet-monitoring services over wagers placed on his potential transfer in January.
The FA employed tech wizards to check texts, messages and phone calls made by Sturridge during the January window.
We revealed how a cousin of the former Chelsea star placed a £10,000 bet on Sturridge joining Milan, when it looked like the deal would go through.
Sturridge eventually joined West Brom on loan, with one punter attempting to place a £5,000 bet on him moving to The Hawthorns at odds of 66-1.
Because the FA investigation lasted eight months, the FA agreed to give Sturridge’s legal team extra time to prepare a response.
They had initially given them just eight days.
Liverpool say he has been co-operating fully with the FA and that he has “stated categorically that he has never gambled on football”.
