Liverpool odds on favourites to win Premier League after pulling six points clear

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Newcastle 5-0 today while City lost 2-1 against Leicester and now Coral have adjudged Liverpool as favourites to win the league.

After City’s defeat, Tottenham, who beat Bournemouth 5-0, leapfrogged the champions in second as they trail six points behind Liverpool.

The defending champions City are now 11-8 in the outright betting, while Tottenham can be backed at 8-1.

Coral's John Hill said: “It’s been a huge Christmas period so far for Liverpool who are now the new odds-on favourites to win the Premier League this season.

"This is the first time Liverpool have been the favourites for the Premier League title since Steven Gerrard's famous slip against Chelsea in 2014.

“It’s also been a good couple of weeks for Tottenham who have had their odds slashed after putting themselves in the hunt for the title.”

Liverpool have not won the league since 1990, with club legend Kenny Dalglish leading them to the success 28 years ago.

In 2014 Liverpool finished two points behind winners City but Gerrard’s slip at Anfield cost his side as they failed to win two of their last three games.

Despite leading the way on six points Liverpool have two challenging games to come as they first host Arsenal on Saturday before travelling to City next Thursday.

Liverpool are the only team remaining in the league to not yet lose a game as City, Chelsea and Tottenham all saw their unbeaten runs end.
