Liverpool new boy Fabinho misses penalty against Torino.. after 100 per cent record for Monaco

The £44million midfielder tucked away all 16 of his spot-kicks for previous club Monaco – but failed early on in tonight's friendly with Torino.

Luckily for the 24-year-old, his miss instantly inspired fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino.

The striker bagged the opening two goals in the next eight minutes as Liverpool dominated the first half against their Italian visitors.

Fabinho, though, arrived as the penalty king.

And Kop boss Jurgen Klopp must hope his new anchorman's confidence was not shaken by wasting the 12-yard chance ahead of Sunday's Premier League opener at home to West Ham.

Fabinho said on his arrival at Anfield this summer: “I am really excited about this move.

“Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club.

“I will try to grow and learn and improve myself, and to be part of the club’s history.”

But, although he wants to be a future star, he will also be hoping he does not become a past master from the spot.
