Leroy Sane's MOTHER 'holding up' Man City contract extension talks

Regina Weber, an Olympic bronze medallist in 1984, has 'proved obstructive' as the Premier League leaders try and secure the German star to a new long-term deal.

According to the Daily Mail, Sane's father Souleymane Sane, a former Senegal striker, usually acts as his agent along with intermediaries – but former West Germany gymnast Weber has become involved in talks this time around.

City have been trying to tie Sane down since last summer, with his current deal expiring in 2021.

The club expect Sane to sign a new deal, while the winger has always maintained that Manchester feels like "home".

Sane has been in and out of Pep Guardiola's team this season but at 23, he is one of City's most prized assets.

The winger scored and notched three assists in the thrashing of his former club Schalke on Tuesday night.

But Guardiola was not totally pleased with the performance of the Germany star, wanting him to be more "aggressive" from the first whistle.

Asked if Sane was at his best, Guardiola said: "No. After the first goal, yes.

"Before, no.

"He was not aggressive enough in the first 20 minutes.

"I know it is tough for Leroy, he doesn't play every game, but after 20 minutes he was then outstanding for the goal and the assists.

"He is a player we know has incredible qualities.

"It is difficult to find around the world a player with the qualities he has."
