Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s family pay tribute

The son of tragic Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha broke down in tears as he and members of his family laid a wreath outside the King Power Stadium.

Mr. Srivaddhanaprabha was one of five people tragically killed on Saturday evening when his helicopter crashed following the Foxes 1-1 draw with West Ham .

His wife Aimon, son Aiyawatt and daughter Voramas arrived with other members of their family on Monday morning to add their tribute to the hundreds already arranged by fans.

Aiyawatt, who is the club’s vice-chairman, often accompanied his father on the helicopter but was at home in Thailand on Saturday.

The group chanted as various tributes were added to those of supporters – including candles and flowers.

The family’s visit comes as the world of football paid tribute to those who lost their lives.

Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore in a statement: "Vichai was a gentleman who graced the game with his civility and charm and we will miss him enormously. His impact on Leicester – the football club and city – will be remembered forever."

Leicester captain Wes Morgan tweeted: "Absolutely heartbroken and devastated regarding the news of our chairman. A man that was loved and adored."

Denmark international Schmeichel, who was reported to have witnessed the accident, thanked Mr. Srivaddhanaprabha for making his football dreams come true in an emotional post on his Instagram account.

He said: "Dear Mr Chairman. I cannot believe this is happening. I am so totally devastated and heartbroken. I just cannot believe what I saw last night. It just doesn’t seem real," he wrote.

"It is difficult to put into words how much you meant to this football club and to the city of Leicester. Never have I ever come across a man like you. So hard working, so passionate, so kind and so generous in the extreme.

"You changed football. Forever! You gave hope to everyone that the impossible was possible. You literally made my dreams come true.

"We now have a responsibility as a club, as players and fans to honour you. From knowing you we do this by being the family you created."

Pilot Eric Swaffer, who appears to have steered the helicopter away from the ground, also died alongside his co-pilot girlfriend Izabela Roza Lechowicz.

Nusara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare were also killed in the accident.
