Kyle Guy was ‘terrified’ taking game-winning free throws in Virginia’s Final Four win

It was the ultimate pressure-packed moment for Kyle Guy. The Virginia guard was stepping to the free-throw line for three shots down two with less than a second to go in the Final Four after being fouled by Samir Doughty.

He makes all three he's the hero. He makes less than two – and the Cavaliers had shot just 3-for-9 from the line to that point – he's the goat.

Guy sank all three shots, lifting No. 1 UVA to a 63-62 win over Auburn that advanced the Cavaliers to the national championship game for the first time.

So he was calm and in control the whole time, right? Well, not quite.

"I could lie to you and say I knew I was going to hit them, but I was terrified," Guy said.

"I had confidence in myself but — this is what we dream of. For me to be able to do this for our team, I couldn't be happier.

“I could lie to you and say I knew I was going to hit them, but I was terrified.”

Regardless of how he felt, and kudos to Guy for being honest, he got the job done and Virginia is moving on in thrilling fashion.
