Juan Mata admits Wolves were better than Man Utd in FA Cup shock… but backs team-mates to bounce back against Barcelona

JUAN MATA admits Wolves fully deserved to dump Manchester United out of the FA Cup.

But the midfielder vows the Red Devils will bounce back in their upcoming Champions League quarter-final clash with Barcelona.

United were hoping to join rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup semis before their trip to Molineux last week.

However, Wolves stuck with the tactics that saw them almost beat Chelsea in the league a few days before.

And they shocked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in a thrilling 2-1 victory.

Mata concedes United were not good enough and deserved to be knocked out of football’s oldest cup competition.

However, the Spaniard insists United will now put in a stellar performance when they battle Barcelona for a place in the Champions League semis.

Mata wrote on his blog: “It hurts to say that the defeat against Wolves was deserved.

“We fought until the very last minute but they were better than us and we have to accept it.

“[Barcelona] is a huge challenge, but we are ready to give our best to try to go through.”
