Jose Mourinho says Harry Kane doesn't care about beating Cristiano Ronaldo to Euro 2020 Golden Boot after chat with ace

FORMER Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has declared Harry Kane doesn't care about winning the Golden Boot and is solely focused on winning Euro 2020.

The England skipper has banged in three goals in his last two games, and is three strikes shy of being the top scorer at the last two major tournaments.

Cristiano Ronaldo currently leads the Golden Boot race despite Portugal crashing out in the last-16 having scored five times in the group stages.

Czech Republic's Patrik Schick has also found the back of the net on five occasions, but he sits in second spot due to not registering an assist unlike the Juventus forward.

Ahead of the Three Lions' semi-final clash against Denmark on Wednesday night, Mourinho has revealed he has spoken to Kane, who only has eyes on winning England's first major trophy since 1966.

The Special One, who worked with the 27-year-old during his 17 months in North London, told talkSPORT: "I don’t think he cares about the Golden Boot, I don’t think he cares, honestly.

"I think he would care about it if he feels England has no chance to win it, and he probably thinks I cannot win the big one with England, so let me win, or try to win, the individual one for myself.

“I spoke with him when he was on zero goals, and he was happy – because the team was winning.

"He was not worried about his zero goals record. He didn’t really care about it.

"And then I spoke with him after he’d scored three goals and of course the happiness was there but the happiness had doubled with the fact he was getting closer to the final and this is the only thing he thinks about.

“He wants to win it. He has a few individual awards already, but he doesn’t want this one. He wants to win the Euros. That’s what he has in mind."

Kane, who is yet to win a trophy in his career, believes lifting Euro 2020 would surpass anything at club level.

He remarked: "I think it would mean everything.

“I’ve always said winning a trophy with England would always surpass anything at club level, in my opinion.

“It has been so long, what 55 years, since we won something as a national side.

"Just to be a part of that history and put our stamp on history would be something we’d never forget.

“We have a great opportunity now to achieve that. We have to grab it with both hands and not let it go.”
