The Chelsea defender, 38, went for a bite to eat with his stunning wife Toni after his morning run.
Terry was so impressed with his morning meal that he shared a picture of it with his 4.3 million followers.
The Aston Villa assistant coach captioned it: "7k run this morning followed by a BIG breakfast."
But fans were shocked to see that he only had one slice of toast, a few slivers of bacon, one sausage, an avocado and some oats.
One Instagram user commented: "Sorry @johnterry.26 this is not a big breakfast! After a 7k run I would tell the chefs to leave the kitchen and rustle up all the food possible."
Another said: "Where's the big breakfast? I'm failing to see anything big about this."
But the 78-cap England international was quick to defend his delicious dish in the comments section.
When one fan questioned the size of his breakfast, he said: "That's the big breakfast."
And someone asked where his breakfast had gone, to which he replied: "That's it".
Terry hit back at his critics by posting another snap of the meal to his Instagram story to prove he also had two poached eggs on his plate.
In the background, the 38-year-old appeared to be drawing up plans for a new house with his wife.
Ricky Hatton also managed to send social media into meltdown with a picture of his breakfast – because he photographed it alongside a pair of breasts.
