Huddersfield Town's Premier League survival hopes potentially suffer blow as Aaron Mooy is stretchered off against Bournemouth

HUDDERSFIELD'S survival hopes have potentially suffered a crushing blow as star man Aaron Mooy was stretchered off against Bournemouth.

The Australian midfielder went down in agony after a clash of knees with Cherries ace Lewis Cook and his World Cup dream could now also be in jeopardy.

A number of team-mates consoled him on the pitch before he left the field with a brace on his left knee and his head in his hands.

Now he could be set for a lengthy period on the sidelines just as the relegation dogfight starts to begin.

Mooy, 27, has been the Terriers top performer this season as they battle to stay up.

He has played in 29 matches for David Wagner's men so far, providing numerous assists and scoring four goals.

The talisman proved his importance again against Bournemouth before the incident occurred.

Mooy provided the assists for both Steve Mounie goals against their rivals as Huddersfield romped to a 4-1 triumph.
