POP star Shakira announced that she has split from Barcelona defender Gerard Pique on June 6, 2022.
Despite the pair going their separate ways, it has been reported that they will remain friends for the sake of their children.

Shakira shares two sons with her former partner, Gerard Piqué.
In January 2013, they welcomed their eldest son, nine-year-old Milian.
Then in January 2015, their second son, seven-year-old Sasha was born.
Despite the pair going their separate ways, they have decided to remain friends for the sake of their kids, according to Spanish newspaper El Periodico.
The ex-couple were spotted as they attended an international baseball tournament in the Czech Republic earlier in June to support their 9-year-old son.

How long were Shakira and Gerard Pique together?
The pair were together for eleven years before their split.
They first met in 2010, when Piqué appeared in Shakira's music video for Waka Waka, which served as the 2010's FIFA World Cup anthem.
Then on March 29, 2011, Shakira and Piqué put all rumours to rest by confirming their relationship on social media.
In a photo posted to Twitter and Facebook, the Barcelona defender is seen hugging the singer from behind, alongside the caption "Les presento a mi sol" (I present to you my sun).

Why did Shakira and Gerard Pique split?
On June 6, 2022, the couple announced they had split up.
The revelation came after reports that the footballer had strayed.
A statement released via Shakira's publicist said: “We regret to confirm that we are parting ways.
"For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.
"Thank you for your understanding."
Pique is yet to make any comments on the separation or the cheating rumours.
But the claims that the woman with whom he had allegedly cheated was the mother of Barcelona teammate Gavi are false.
Reports in Spain claim the former Manchester United star has been "staying alone in his own apartment for weeks" following Shakira's discovery of his alleged infidelity.

Further reports claim that he has been frequently going to nightclubs with team-mate Riqui Puig and his group of friends, coming back early hours of the morning.
