How Chelsea could line up for trip to Norwich as defensive rock Rudiger declares himself fit but Hudson-Odoi remains injured – The Sun

FRANK LAMPARD will have to consider whether Antonio Rudiger is ready to start against Norwich City on the weekend before the German can add some much-needed steel to his defence.

The Blues backline has been shaky to say the least in the opening matches of the Premier League season.

But with Rudiger declaring himself fit after playing 90 minutes for the Under-23s on Monday, Lampard will have a decision to make.

If the German is deemed sharp enough to face the Canaries, it will be a toss-up between Kurt Zouma and Andres Christensen as to who is dropped.

Neither centre-back has covered themselves in glory with the Frenchman in particular criticised after the opening day hammering at Manchester United.

Otherwise, the Chelsea manager can rely on a fairly settled team with Emerson Palmieri set to continue at left-back ahead of Marcos Alonso.

Cesar Azpilicueta will also start after Davide Zappacosta left on loan to Roma in the week, allowing Reece James to challenge the Spaniard at right-back once he is fit.

A goal against Leicester should keep Mason Mount in the team with N'Golo Kante and Jorginho completing the midfield three.

And the same attack as the one that faced the Foxes, consisting of Olivier Giroud, Pedro and Christian Pulisic, is likely to be picked given how no Blues forward has made a strong case to play as of yet.

In the event that Lampard wants to change things up, Mateo Kovacic is ahead of Ross Barkley in the offing for a midfield berth.

And Willian could come in for a first start of the season having being afforded extra rest due to his run in the Copa America.

With one point from two games, any changes at this point wouldn't necessarily be based on in-game performances and the likes of Tammy Abraham may have to wait for chances off the bench to improve upon previous lacklustre outings.

Missing for Chelsea are Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi, both recovering from ruptured Achilles tendon injuries with the winger potentially back next month.
