TEMPLEGATE looks to kick off the star-studded Newmarket July meeting with a bang.

Frankie Dettori and John Gosden are reunited after their 11-day 'sabbatical' – and our top tipster thinks they can score on day one.

Read on for his top tips, check out his comprehensive guide to every Newmarket race and back a horse by clicking their odds.

MIGHTY ULYSSES (4.10 Newmarket, nap)

Frankie Dettori is back on the Gosden colt after the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot where he finished a close-up fifth. That was a top-notch effort taking a massive step up in class from handicap company.

REPERTOIRE (4.40 Newmarket, nb)

He scored at Ascot on comeback and has run well twice since. He was a close-up third at Doncaster last time and the handicapper has left his mark alone.

PERSIAN FORCE (2.25 Newmarket, treble)

He finished strongly when second in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

This trip is clearly right up his street and fast ground is ideal too. With just three runs on the clock, there should be plenty more to come from Richard Hannon’s flyer.

NEWMARKET

1.20

IVORY MADONNA started with a promising third at Goodwood before a cracking placed effort in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.

This trip is ideal and it will take a good debut effort by one of the others to stop her.

Canadiansmokeshow is bred for this distance as a juvenile and the booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye. A market move would underline her chances.

Rose Prick has William Buick on board but is bred to need more of a stamina test. Cruise should know his job on debut from Richard Hannon.

1.50

MASEKELA was an excellent fourth in the Derby and finished off strongly to suggest this extra furlong will be ideal.

Trainer Andrew Balding continues in excellent form and there’s more to come from this colt.

Walk Of Stars has been gelded since he was tailed off in the Derby. He’s another who should enjoy moving up in trip and he can show the form of his Lingfield Trial second back on this conventional track.

Zechariah improved for moving up to 1m6f when a short-head second in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot.

Ryan Moore takes over and is likely to make this a real test of stamina from the front.

Deauville Legend was unlucky to be beaten a neck in a Royal Ascot handicap. This is tougher but he has more to come on his fifth run.

2.25

PERSIAN FORCE won the Brockelsby in March and built on that form when going close in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

That proved his liking for this trip and trainer Richard Hannon has a good record in this race.

Little Big Bear is the obvious danger after he beat 23 rivals to win the Windsor Castle Stakes, with the second scoring since.

That was over 5f but he went close on debut over this distance so should stay.

Mysterious Night looked a nice prospect when winning at Newbury last month. This is a big step up from that but he has solid place claims.

Brave Nation was one of The Ridler’s victims in the Norfolk Stakes barging match.

He was a good fourth despite that and is another in the mix stepping up in distance.

Waiting All Night was behind the tip at Ascot and needs a good deal more to turn the tables.

3.00

KHANJAR was an easy winner on handicap debut at Ripon last time and has a lot more to come.

He picked up strongly when asked and a 9lb rise in the weights won’t be enough to stop him.

Deodar is capable of better than his third here 14 days ago. He travelled well but didn’t get home over 7f. This drop in distance should help.

Ingra Tor didn’t go a yard at York latest but looked a nice prospect when scoring on the other track here in April. He has strong each-way claims.

Bosh was asked to come from a long way back when fourth at Goodwood and his last win came over this distance.

Aasser is another on the shortlist at a big price after a good second at Ayr.

3.35

MOSTAHDAF showed his ability over this trip with a good second in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

He likes this fast ground and looks capable of better at this distance.

Yibir is the obvious threat after a good effort in the Grade 1 Man O War Stakes at Belmont in the States last time.

He was turned over at 1-4 the last time he ran here though which is a concern. He’ll be doing his best work at the finish.

The others look well short of the big two.

New Mandate is the most interesting trying this trip for the first time.

He didn’t get the run of the race in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot last time and can win the battle for third.

Global Storm has winning form at this trip albeit at lower levels. He was held in a handicap last time out so has a mountain to climb here.

4.10

MIGHTY ULYSSES stepped out of handicap company to go mighty close in the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

This a drop in class over a trip that suits – and Frankie is back in the saddle for Team Gosden for good measure. That looks a winning combination.

Berkshire Shadow was just a length behind the selection at the Queen’s course and looks the biggest threat.

He’s had just two runs this season and could be capable of better again.

This is a hot Listed contest with Albahr having a Group 1 win on his CV from Woodbine in Canada.

He is best at this trip but may just need this run after six months off.

The Acropolis was a fair second at The Curragh latest but this is hotter competition so he must find a lot more.

4.40

REPERTOIRE improved for stepping up to a mile when a close-up third at Doncaster last time.

He had to make up a fair bit of ground and Jim Crowley could have him a bit closer to the pace here, which will help. He’s off the same mark and won’t be far away.

Enforced got the job done nicely over course and distance 14 days ago. That was his handicap debut and he needed all of the mile to get his head in front.

A 5lb rise for that effort seems fair and it was just his fourth run so Roger Varian’s hope should be capable of a step forward.

William Buick has chosen Noble Dynasty of the Charlie Appleby pair.

He is only 1lb above his last winning mark, which came over this trip at Thirsk in September. He should be fit enough to do himself justice.

Stablemate Echo Point ran in stronger races than this in Dubai earlier this year. He has few miles on the clock and could improve enough to score.

Coase scored on the Rowley Mile in April and hasn’t run badly a couple of time since. He didn’t seem at home over 1m2f last time.

Evocative Spark is in good form and is another for the shortlist.
