Greta Thunberg responds to Meat Loaf’s claim she’s ‘brainwashed’ on climate change

Greta Thunberg is responding to Meat Loaf’s comments about her stance on climate change.

On Jan. 1, the singer told UK’s Daily Mail that he doesn’t believe in climate change and that the 17-year-old Swedish activist is “brainwashed.”

“She has been brainwashed into thinking that there is climate change and there isn’t,” he told the outlet. “She hasn’t done anything wrong but she’s been forced into thinking that what she is saying is true.”

Classy as ever, Thunberg took to Twitter Monday to respond to Meat without any name-calling.

“It’s not about Meatloaf. It’s not about me. It’s not about what some people call me. It’s not about left or right,” she tweeted. “It’s all about scientific facts. And that we’re not aware of the situation. Unless we start to focus everything on this, our targets will soon be out of reach.”

This isn’t the first time Thunberg has faced criticism from high-profile people.

In December 2019, President Donald Trump mocked Thunberg, telling her in a tweet that she should “work on her anger management” and “chill” out. He was dismissive of the young activist after she was named Time’s Person of the Year.

Thunberg responded swiftly, changing her Twitter profile to read, “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

Her attention in the spotlight hasn’t been all negative, though.

Former first lady Michelle Obama expressed her support for Thunberg on Twitter.

“@GretaThunberg, don’t let anyone dim your light. Like the girls I’ve met in Vietnam and all over the world, you have so much to offer us all. Ignore the doubters and know that millions of people are cheering you on,” Obama tweeted in December.

Leonardo DiCaprio posted a video on Instagram of Thunberg and congratulated her on the honor, including Time’s description of why she was selected. Actress Alyssa Milano bashed Trump for his reaction.
