Giroud reveals how cheeky pal Kante CHEATS when Chelsea pair play chess

Kante has built a reputation for being a cheater after it was suggested during the 2018 World Cup he cheats during card games with his French teammates.

And speaking to beIN sports, Giroud revealed his Chelsea and French colleague Kante tried to cheat during a game of chess they once played.

Giroud said: “I do not play cards with him, but we do play chess. It’s not bad at all, it’s good.

“I felt like I was going to find that (cheating) side.

“When we played, and he saw that he was in trouble, he said, ‘Oh I should not have done it! Go on, Olive, can I can do it again? Be a gentleman!’

“I won it and he said, ‘We do not count that one.’

“So when it suits him – I do not think he’s a cheater, he’s endearing and he’s a competitor, and he does not like losing.”

Giroud has made just 13 starts this season under new manager Maurizio Sarri – and the winter arrival of Gonzalo Higuain has left the Frenchman’s Stamford Bridge future in doubt.

The 32-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season after signing an 18-month contract last January.

But reports in France suggest Giroud will keep Chelsea sweating over whether he will sign a new deal until their managerial situation is sorted.

The Blues are in chaos at present with boss Maurizio Sarri on the brink of being sacked after a shocking run of results.

He is expected to be axed next week if his side are hammered in the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City today.

Giroud is expected to wait and see what happens with the Blues head coach position before deciding his future.
