FORMER Burton Albion star Kelvin Maynard was shot dead last night by two men on a motorcycle in Amsterdam.
Police have confirmed the 32-year-old Dutchman was driving his car in the Langbroekdreef region of the city when the fatal gun attack occurred.
The ex-defender is believed to have attempted to escape the gunmen by driving towards a nearby fire station, according to De Telegraaf.
However, his vehicle hit the front of the building and he was unable to be resuscitated.
Ansterdam cops said: “We can confirm that the fatal victim of the shooting incident on Langbroekdreef last night was 32-year-old Kelvin Maynard.
“The investigation into his death is in full swing.”
Maynard secured a “dream move” to England in November 2014 when he signed for fellow countryman Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink at Burton from Antwerp.
