Fantasy football sizzlers, fizzlers: Jordy Nelson a red-zone threat again

These players saw their fantasy values increase or decrease most based on their performances in Week 3:

Sizzlers

WR Jordy Nelson, Oakland Raiders: Welcome back to fantasy relevance. QB Derek Carr clearly looked Nelson’s way more often than he did Amari Cooper’s. The former Green Bay Packer caught six of his team-high eight targets for 173 yards and a touchdown.

WR Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons: Anyone who racks up 146 yards and three touchdowns piques our curiosity, but before getting too excited, remember the rookie’s breakout game came against a porous New Orleans Saints defense. And Julio Jones is still on the other side.

QB Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns: The entire offense seemed to wake up as soon as Mayfield entered the game Sept. 20. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the draft for a reason; now he’ll get a chance to prove it.

QB Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Allen led the Bills to a huge upset in his first NFL start. Fantasy owners can be even more encouraged by his 10 carries and two rushing touchdowns.

WR Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams: Woods is averaging 10 targets a game after torching the Chargers for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Fizzlers

RB Kenyan Drake, Miami Dolphins: The timeshare with Frank Gore was already a blow to Drake’s fantasy stock, but five carries for 3 yards? More futility could be on the horizon considering the trouble Miami had running the ball against an average Oakland Raiders defensive front.

RB Rashaad Penny, Seattle Seahawks: After getting the majority of the backfield touches in Week 2, the rookie was almost invisible on Sunday as Chris Carson ran for 102 yards and a touchdown on a whopping 32 attempts.

RB Rex Burkhead, New England Patriots: Burkhead had to leave early due to a neck injury after getting zero carries and two catches. With first-round pick Sony Michel getting healthier, Burkhead might see his role reduced permanently.

WR Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers: Allen might not longer be matchup-proof. The Rams held him to three catches for 44 yards and also forced a fumble.

WR Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears: As the Bears keep a tight leash on QB Mitchell Trubisky, it will be hard to rely on Robinson until they take the training wheels off.
