Fantasy football sizzlers, fizzlers: James Conner tops 2018’s biggest movers

These players saw their fantasy values increase or decrease most based on their performances over the 2018 season:

Sizzlers

RB James Conner, Pittsburgh Steelers: Through all the Le'Veon Bell drama this year, Conner came out of it as a legitimate replacement for a player many would consider the best running back in football. That's not an easy feat to accomplish.

QB Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: The electric Mahomes was far and away the top-scoring player in most every fantasy format. He has a real chance to throw 50 touchdown passes this season, something only Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have ever done.

RB Saquon Barkley, New York Giants: Barkley should eclipse 2,000 combined yards in Week 17, which is amazing given the Giants' issues on offense this year. Barkley catapulted himself into the conversation as the No. 1 fantasy running back in 2019.

RB Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns: The rookie gets the nod for his ability to grind out yardage on the ground and through the air. His inclusion is also a nod to the Browns' emergence as an exciting offense once again.

WR Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings: For most of the season Thielen was fantasy's top wide receiver, leading the league in receptions and yardage. He's come back to the pack over the second half, but Thielen will be among the top options at the position in next year's drafts.

Fizzlers

TE Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots: Gronk did miss three games due to injury but except for two instances, his stat lines were unexceptional. He should no longer be a consideration in the first three rounds of drafts — and he may fall even further.

RB Leonard Fournette, Jacksonville Jaguars: In what is becoming a disturbing trend, Fournette missed seven games this season with a variety of injuries. His future value took a big hit with his inability to stay on the football field. Fantasy owners value consistency above almost any other quality.

RB Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears: Howard has often been scripted out of the offense or simply replaced by Tarik Cohen. While Howard had some good games, it was impossible to predict when those games were going to be, making him a fantasy dud in 2018.

RB LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills: The Bills offensive line was not a good one, but a lot more was expected from their best player. McCoy had a tendency to disappear for long stretches as the team either opted not to use him or the offense as a whole struggled to put together any consistent drives.

RB Devonta Freeman, Atlanta Falcons: It's more than just his groin injury that has Freeman on this list. He carried the ball just 14 times in 2018 and his longevity both with the Falcons and the league has come into question. He will be nothing more than a dart throw in fantasy drafts in 2019.
