Fantasy football deep sleepers: Stack Eagles’ Nick Foles, Darren Sproles

It’s Week 2 of the fantasy football season. If you are looking for an unexpected roster replacement or an inexpensive starter for your daily fantasy lineup, here are some players who could help.

Week 2 rankings:How the players stack up at each position

These deep sleepers are players flying under the radar whose matchups suggest they could have a big game in Week 2. Just remember, they are risky fantasy plays given the other options likely available.

QB Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

Foles posted a forgettable stat line (19-34-117 passing, int.) in last week's season opener. Despite being last season’s Super Bowl MVP, he’s hardly rostered in any leagues. This week, Foles plays against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass defense which allowed over 400 yards passing and three touchdowns in Week 1. He could put up 250  yards and two touchdown passes, which would be good enough for a top-10 QB finish.

RB Darren Sproles, Philadelphia Eagles

It’s a good week to double down on Eagles. The Bucs allowed 112 yards receiving and a score to the running back position last week. Sproles was second on the team in targets in Week 1 with seven, and should break one for a score this week.

WR Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With Desean Jackson expected to miss this week’s game, Godwin will get the start opposite Mike Evans. With the Eagles defense focused on stopping Mike Evans, Godwin should see plenty of targets. That sets him up for 80-100 yards receiving and a score. He’s still available in a majority of leagues.

TE Antonio Gates, Los Angeles Chargers

The veteran sets up well against a Buffalo Bills pass defense that last week gave up three passing touchdowns and over 100 yards to the tight end position. Gates should finish top 10 this week.

Dallas Cowboys defense/special teams

Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli gets the most out of his players especially against the New York Giants. Eli Manning has not played well against the Cowboys the past six games — tossing just six touchdowns (three in one game), averaging 201 yards passing per game, and throwing at least one interception in the past four games.

The Cowboys will expect the Giants to run the football and should be prepared to stop it. Big Blue hasn't scored over 10 points against the Cowboys in their last three meetings.
