Fantasy football deep sleepers: Lamar Jackson will be unleashed vs. Chiefs

It’s Week 14 of the fantasy football season. If you are looking for an unexpected roster replacement or an inexpensive starter for your daily fantasy lineup, here are players who could help.

These deep sleepers are players flying under the radar whose matchups suggest they could have a big game in Week 14. Just remember, they are risky fantasy plays given the other options likely available.

QB Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Jackson has been a pleasant surprise in limited action. He’s able to score with both his arm and feet. Playing from behind against the Kansas City Chiefs vaunted offense will force Jackson to pass.

Fantasy rankings:  How players stack up at each position in Week 14

Jackson is a candidate for multiple passing touchdowns against a Chiefs defense allowing an average of 302 yards and at least two passing touchdowns per game over the past three games. Throw in the potential for some rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, Jackson should have a big fantasy game.

RB Chris Thompson, Washington Redskins

With Mark Sanchez under center, the Redskins offense will go run-heavy against a New York Giants defense allowing an average of 121 rushing yards and 63 receiving yards to running backs over their past four games. Thompson will be a beneficiary playing behind Adrian Peterson.

WR Bruce Ellington, Detroit Lions

Ellington has 19 catches for 115 yards over his first three games with the Lions, averaging eight targets per game.  Teammate and No. 1 receiver Kenny Golladay will draw the Arizona Cardinals' top cornerback, Patrick Peterson, in coverage. Ellington as the team’s No. 2 wide receiver should step up for a big play or two in his most productive game of the season.

TE Trey Burton, Chicago Bears

Burton's last good fantasy game was in Week 7 and his last touchdown came in Week 9. He should get back in the end zone this week against a Los Angeles Rams defense allowing 260 yards and two touchdowns to tight ends over the past three games. A touchdown and 85 receiving yards would not surprise.

Green Bay Packers defense/special teams

The Packers are ranked toward the middle in several defensive categories — including total yards and points allowed. However, they’ve allowed the sixth-fewest passing yards and are in the top third of fantasy defenses against the quarterback over the past four games.

At Lambeau Field, the Packers play an Atlanta Falcons offense whose running backs have struggled over the past four games, scoring just one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown on 311 all-purpose yards. Coming off the firing Mike McCarthy, a motivated Packers defense should finish in the top 10.
