Ex-Tottenham star Caulker 'badly shaken up' after van crash that killed Alanyaspor team-mate Josef Sural

STEVEN CAULKER has been "badly shaken up" by the van crash that killed his Alanyaspor team-mate Josef Sural.

The former Tottenham, Cardiff and QPR defender was in the VIP mini-van that crashed outside Analya after a 350-mile journey from yesterday's draw against Kayserispor's stadium.

Sural, 28, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash as the van overturned, ripping one of the side doors off.

The Czech Republic international leaves behind a wife and two young children following the tragedy.

Pictures showed Caulker, who has one England cap, walking away from the hospital, but team-mate Sural was not so lucky.

According to the Mirror, Caulker's representatives say he is "safe, but badly shaken up."

'SINCERE CONDOLENCES'

Former Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse was also involved in the crash.

The club are planning a vigil for poor Sural this evening as Turkish football reels from the tragedy.

Club chairman Hasan Cavusoglu claimed the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

He said: "According to information I received from our police chief, despite there being two drivers on the vehicle, they were both asleep.

"The crash happened as a result of them both being asleep."

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech was among the first to offer his condolences, writing on social media of his former international team-mate: "Sad news from this morning.

"Sincere condolences to the family and to all the loved ones. R.I.P."
