Ex-Manchester United and City striker Carlos Tevez has never liked football and would rather watch golf than Barcelona vs Real Madrid

The former Manchester United and City star claims he only enjoys the game when he has the ball at his feet and would switch over if El Clasico was on.

When asked by Clarin magazine whether he watched football at home he said:"I never watch football. I don't like it.

"If Barcelona-Real Madrid is on, I change the channel to watch golf. I was never a football fanatic. I like to have the ball between my feet."

Tevez will feature for boyhood club Boca Juniors in their Copa Libertadores semi-final against Brazilian side Palmeiras later this month with a possible face-off in the final against hated rivals River Plate.

He maintains that winning the trophy would be the highlight of his career despite landing the Champions League with Manchester United in 2008.

He said: "I don't watch games but River is a good team. I can't think about the final because it would be disrespecting Palmeiras.

"Winning it with the club you love is the best feeling you can have as a footballer."

The Argentinian returned to Boca after spells for both Manchester City and Manchester United, Juventus and a short stint in China.

Despite his record breaking wages abroad, he remembers his poor upbringing well.

He said: "In my neighbourhood you had to live off drugs, weapons and robbery.

"It was hard but we were happy. Always playing with a ball in the streets.

"We waste time in our country arguing and not helping children who die of hunger in the streets. When they need my help, I come."
