It seems one former Boston Celtic thoroughly enjoyed watching Nets’ star Kyrie Irving suffer a potentially devastating ankle injury in Sunday’s loss to Milwaukee.
In a series of Instagram rants, Glen “Big Baby” Davis chalked up the injury to “karma”.
“His ankles is f—ed up and ‘Lucky’ (the Celtics logo) got his ass,” a gleeful Davis said in a video posted Monday.
Irving, who was ruled out of Game 5 against the Bucks and may miss the rest of the second round, stomped on the Celtics’ center-court logo featuring “Lucky the Leprechaun” after scoring 39 points in a victory over Boston in the first round last month.
The incident drew backlash from Celtics fans and even Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett, as Irving has had bad blood with the Celtics stemming from a tumultuous two-year tenure in which he clashed with younger players and struggled in the playoffs.
The stomp was quickly overshadowed by a Boston fan in a Garnett jersey allegedly throwing a water bottle at Irving’s head moments later. (The fan was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.)
“Don’t get back at me because ‘Lucky’ got his get back,” Davis said, referring to criticism he faced for messages he posted Sunday, including, “Ky wished that on hisself (sic).”
“I don’t even care if it’s a logo! It means something to me,” said the 35-year-old, a former big man who won a title coming off the bench for the Celtics in 2008.
“Like, you know what I’m saying, for example, countries that have flags! You go and step on a logo flag, what is that? That’s disrespect!”
Davis, who spent four seasons with Boston and stopped playing in 2015, added: “His ankles is weak!! His ankles is f—ked and Lucky got his ass!”
