Ex-Arsenal star Carlos Vela's wife backs him over claims he tested a transsexual model for a date

The Mexican angrily denied texting Alejandra Salinas after she published screenshots of supposed texts she shared with the footballer.

Vela, who was loaned to West Brom in January 2011 after scoring 11 goals in 62 games with Arsenal, reacted by taking to Twitter.

He denied messaging the model and insisting she was a fraud who had "used technology to achieve some personal objective".

And now, his stunning Spanish wife Saioa Canibano, who he met when he was playing for Real Sociedad, showed she is losing no sleep over the headlines the claims have generated.

She published an Instagram Stories video of her landing Cupid’s arrows on her husband in their car.

She also used an internet programme to plant computer-generated kisses on his face as he turned towards her and smiled.

The couple went public with their relationship in May last year after keeping it under wraps for months.

They have a son Romeo, who will turn two next month.

The screenshots Vela’s accuser published — with messages from an official social media account – show him trying to invite her out for a date and praising the way she looks in photos.

Salinas appears to rebuff him because he is married with a child.

The footballer, now with MLS side Los Angeles FC, came out fighting by insisting: "A person who I don’t know in the slightest and I have never contacted in any shape or form, has used technology to obtain some personal objective.

"It’s a real shame. People with no scruples that don’t care about damaging others as long as they achieve what they want."

Saioa was working as a sports reporter in the Basque city of San Sebastian when she met her future husband.

When he left Real Sociedad he published a picture in a club shirt, holding his son in one arm and with the other round his partner, alongside the message: "I don’t have words of thanks for all the affection I’ve received over these last years.

"Today a beautiful chapter in my life is coming to a close and it couldn’t have a better end."
