Ex-Arsenal and Spurs star Emmanuel Adebayor agrees to join Turkish minnows Kayserispor on one-year deal – The Sun

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has plunged his career to new depths by joining Turkish minnows Kayserispor.

The Togo international spent 11 seasons in the Premier League with Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Crystal Palace.

But Adebayor found himself without a club this summer after being released by Turkish league runners-up Istanbul Basaksehir.

The 35-year-old has now agreed a one-year deal with Kayserispor, who finished tenth in last season's Super Lig.

The striker flew in for a medical on Monday morning, and was pictured holding a club scarf with fans at Kayseri airport.

The town is 150 miles east of capital city Ankara in the Asian side of Turkey.

Kayserispor will hope Adebayor can help them add some honours to their modest record.

They have won the Turkish Cup once, in 2008, and were joint winners of the Intertoto Cup in 2006.

Adebayor has previously had a stint on loan to Real Madrid, and began his career in France with Metz and Monaco.

He was linked with a move to Iranian club Tractor SC earlier this month.

The Togo skipper was left out of the squad for his country's 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Comoros this week.

Former Gunners striker Adebayor was also overlooked for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last October as his international career takes a nosedive.

But he will hope he can earn a recall by firing in the goals for his new side.
