Everton star Andre Gomes tackled by 'ghost' during Crystal Palace clash in bizarre moment

The Portuguese midfielder, 25, crumpled in a heap while completely unopposed on the edge of the Eagles' box during the game.

In the second half of the match, the former Barcelona star Gomes was seen hurtling towards the area.

As he prepared to spray a ball out to the right wing, he hilariously stumbled and hit the deck.

What's worse for Gomes, he was making his Toffees debut having missed the whole season so far through injury.

Fortunately for Marco Silva and Co, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun rescued Everton at Goodison Park.

The two sides were drifting towards a dreary 0-0 draw, before the Merseyside forwards scored twice in the final three minutes to clinch all the points.

Silva chucked Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman and Tosun on from the bench to inject some life into a game drifting towards a draw.

And all three played a starring late role as the home side pulled a victory from nowhere with two goals in the dying minutes of a dismal clash.

The win saw Everton move up to eighth in the table – just six points adrift of the top four.
