England were one of the ante-post favourites to lift the cup and SunSport is on hand to bring you the very best England bets ahead of a potentially dramatic weekend.

Final – England vs Italy (Sunday, 8pm)

After all the wild celebrations following victory over the Danes, it's now sinking in that England will be in Sunday's Wembley showpiece.

In their way are Roberto Mancini's Italy, a side who over the course of the tournament have drawn comparisons to the Three Lions.

Excellent defence? Check. Team spirit? Check. Attacking talent? In spades.

This will be England's toughest task so far – but you knew that already.

Italy are on a 34-game unbeaten run in internationals and have conceded just twice all tournament.

Dropping on the tougher side of the draw, they've had to get past Belgium and Spain to book their spot in the final.

And their strength in depth is phenomenal, arguably only matched in the tournament by Southgate's squad.

England might have lost their clean-sheet record against the Danes, but their success has been built on a solid defence.

Southgate might get pelters from some for being cautious, but nobody was complaining the minute the whistle blew on Wednesday.

The Three Lions haven't been much good at tournament football the last 50–odd years but appear to have finally settled on a successful formula.

It won't be pretty at times, but they get the job done.

Expect this game at Wembley to be more of a chess match than Italy's frantic game against Spain.

Noise will reign down from the terraces, but we're confident that this follows the usual rule for major finals – tense.

Back under 2.5 goals with confidence at 9/20, a bet which has won in five of England's six games so far.

And the price on the game finishing a draw and taking us to the dreaded extra 30 minutes is also tempting at 19/10.

Harry Kane has hit form at just the right time for the Three Lions after a very slow start to the tournament.

He'll be on most people's coupon to score again, but we still think you should stick with England's man of the moment Raheem Sterling.

The Man City star was electric agains the Danes and was so close to his fourth goal of the tournament.

It would be a fitting finale if England could lift the trophy just down the road from where Sterling grew up, with him netting in the process.

SunSport's best bets

  • Under 2.5 goals at Wembley – 9/20
  • Game to finish a draw after 90 minutes – 19/10
  • Sterling to net fourth goal of tournament – 16/5
