Eden Hazard injury update: Chelsea talisman a doubt for Carabao Cup game with Frank Lampard’s Derby

The Blues cruised to victory at Burnley without their main man who missed last week’s Europa League win over BATE Borisov with a back injury.

Boss Maurizio Sarri revealed after the Turf Moor win he is unsure if the Belgian wizard will face the Championship side managed by Blues legend Frank Lampard on Wednesday.

However, the Italian coach is hoping the 27-year-old is back for Sunday’s home game against Crystal Palace.

Sarri said: “I want him every match if possible because we have a lot of good players, Hazard offers something different.

"I am very happy as the team was able to score seven goals in two matches without Hazard. That's a good sign.

"I want Eden as soon as possible.

"I’m not sure for Wednesday, but hopefully for Sunday."

Pedro, on his return from injury, deputised for Hazard at Turf Moor, but the Spaniard lasted just 30 minutes and was replaced Ruben Loftus-Cheek due to illness.

Sarri explained Pedro’s early exit from the game saying: “I don't know exactly, I spoke with the doctor for a few seconds and he said it was a very strong stomach ache."

Alvaro Morata opened the scoring at Burnley with Ross Barkley, Willian and Loftus-Cheek piling on the misery for the Clarets.

After the games against Derby and Crystal Palace, the Blues face a trip to BATE Borisov before hosting Everton.
