Dylan’s day out: Dunn enjoys a perfect half-dozen

Former champion apprentice jockey Dylan Dunn had a day to remember at Colac on Saturday when he rode each of his six mounts to victory in the seven-race card.

The 23-year-old only returned to race riding in September after spending 18 months out of the saddle when weight battles caused him to lose motivation and give it away.

However he showed his skill remains with six from six at the meet. His first winner came in race one on Humzz and he closed the day with the winner in the last, None Better.

The only relief his fellow jockeys had was in race three when Dunn did not have a ride, allowing Neil Farley to take Rocky Raccoon to victory.

But the day belonged to Dunn who saluted on Humzz ($8.50), Campo ($2.70), Rosso Antico ($3.00), Mrs Bignell ($6.00), Inastride ($3.20) and None Better ($5.50).

He also rode two seconds at Moonee Valley on Friday night, adding to his remarkable run of form in less than 24 hours.

Craig Williams, who rode a treble at Flemington on Saturday, became the first jockey to ride six winners at a Melbourne Metropolitan meeting in July however the feat is extremely rare regardless of the venue.

Harry Coffey rode six winners from seven rides at the Wycheproof Cup meeting in October 2016 and Queensland jockey Jeff Lloyd rode seven winners in a 12-race card at Caloundra in December 2016.

Champion Brazilian hoop Joao Moreira rode eight winners in Hong Kong in March 2017.

Dunn, the son of top jockey Dwayne Dunn who was riding at Flemington on Saturday, rode two group 3 winners before his temporary retirement.
